What is CreativeMornings?

CreativeMornings is a breakfast lecture series for the creative community. They’re free, monthly events that feature a short talk, Q+A and breakfast. CreativeMornings started in NYC in 2008 and has since grown to over 207 cities all over the world. The local chapters not only celebrate a city’s creative talent but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded people. CreativeMornings happen one Friday a month from 8:30am to 10am.

Attending CreativeMornings is a good idea because:

I will gain insights and best practices relevant to my work.

From design legends to hometown heroes, CreativeMornings speakers are selected by each chapter based on a global theme. Past speakers include visionaries such as Seth Godin, Ben Chestnut, Jessica Hische, Debbie Millman, Simon Sinek and David Kelley, among many others. These accomplished individuals share their stories and lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers and in doing so, pass on invaluable knowledge to the audience. I will walk away from the event feeling motivated and inspired to apply those lessons to my own work.

I will make valuable connections.

Every event includes networking time before and after a talk. This is a great opportunity to meet with creatives across various industries who are willing to share and learn from one another. By attending the event and representing our company there, I will be able to tell others about what we do and make connections that can help us in the future. Due to the free nature of events, CreativeMornings is accessible to a broad spectrum of creatives, from CEOs and students to startup founders and independent freelancers. Past attendees have connected to build partnerships, meet potential new clients, new hires, and fellow collaborators.

I will be able to use what I learn to create shareable online content on behalf of our company.

At any one of our events around the world, it is common to see people Tweeting, Facebooking and Instagramming throughout the morning. By posting on social media directly from the event, I will be embedding our company into a community of thought leaders and innovators. I will be able to pull what I learn, whether it be awesome quotes from the speakers, or nuggets of insight about relevant topics, and be able to share that using an event specific hashtag. By being engaged in the online conversation, I will be able to further expand our reach and connect with the growing online CreativeMornings community around the world.

I will bring back lessons and best practices to share with my team.

The CreativeMornings community is not only filled with talented people eager to share and collaborate, but after listening to an inspiring talk and meeting with others in a spirited environment, I will head back to our office filled with new ideas and information worthy of sharing with my colleagues. When employees are excited about sharing information, it boosts morale and can often be contagious, resulting in an overall happier work environment.
