What makes FieldTrips special

Community-led

FieldTrips are free online experiences led by the community for the community. We’re made up of beautiful humans who love to learn with and from each other.

For connection and inspiration

FieldTrips are an antidote to soul crushing webinars. Our goal? Spark real connection—connection to learning, to self, to each other, to creativity. If you want to experience an energizing, meaningful zoom call, drop in and see what we are making.

For all of us

Not all of our favorite people can make it to an in-person CreativeMornings event. We get it. We love you. FieldTrips brings us together in a safe and supportive environment. Let your hair down, show up in your pjs—however you are, wherever you are is exactly right.

A moment to step away from the cares of the day. A treat to myself. A necessary break 😁.

Join in for a slice of camaraderie and learning all for the sake of being creative!

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And
” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)

FAQs

What are FieldTrips about?

Can’t put us in a box! Our topics cover everything from Linkedin GlowUps and Photoshop to lifemap drawing on bananas to chill co-working parties. It’s not what they are about that makes them special–it’s how they are shared, with all the heart-centered generosity and warmth you could imagine.

Where’s the catch? Is it actually free?

It really is. FieldTrips are community-led and community supported. We believe in a world where we show up for each other. It’s how we’ve operated at CreativeMornings from the beginning and it’s staying that way.

How long is a FieldTrip?

FieldTrips run between 60-75 minutes and include an optional 15 minute “After Party” for those who want a little more social time. All times are listed on the event description.

Does my camera have to be on?

FieldTrip hosts LOVE to see your faces — it helps create that wonderful FieldTrips spirit. We tend to see more on-camera engagement than other online experiences. However, we know this isn’t ideal for everyone. If the experience is super interactive, we will note that in the description. Otherwise, you do you!

I want to attend a specific workshop but it’s out of my time zone/I’m busy at that time. What are my options? Are FieldTrips recorded?

Yes! We understand that the time zones/timing may not always fit with everyone’s schedule. Replays are available for 1 week after the live event for anyone who signed up. If you see a password request or an error message, then the viewing window has passed.

I forgot to register. Can I still view the recording?

Access to the recordings are reserved for those who registered for the FieldTrip, unless there is an exception granted by the host. BUT! It is not uncommon for a host to offer another iteration of the FieldTrip in the future. Any new offerings will be published on our upcoming events page.

Can I download the recording and/or chat from a FieldTrip?

We do not offer any downloads of the recordings out of respect for the host’s intellectual property.

Why is it called a “FieldTrip”?

Because FieldTrips are the best part of school. We think that doing fun things is a cool way to learn. And because they started out as literal, in-person adventures in our local community. Then a pandemic happened. And we showed up on zoom to be together and find our way through. Now it’s one of the things we love the most at CreativeMornings!

Our Community Guidelines

We like to do things on purpose over here. It’s how we support each other’s flourishing. On FieldTrips, we…

Use language that celebrates people’s humanity

We are a community that comes together from all walks of life.

  • Please avoid using generalizations — use “I” statements and refrain from making assumptions about other people’s experiences.

  • Always respect people’s pronouns if they are shared in their name.

Consider our impact

FieldTrip Goers are known as one of the most loving and generous audiences out there. Your ability to go with the flow and cheer on your hosts and fellow attendees is what makes this community so special. To respect this space:

  • Do not use FieldTrips as a space for arguments or agendas.

  • Do not share critical feedback about a Host (whether in the group chat or a DM to them) while the FieldTrip is ongoing. We welcome all reactions in the follow-up survey! You can always DM the FieldTrip support person with any notes.

Respect personal boundaries

  • Please be mindful when direct messaging other participants. Never ask anyone for their personal information unless they offer it and never comment on a persons’ body, character, or appearance.

  • Please gauge the nature of the FieldTrip before posting your contact information in the chat. Sharing your contact information during a FieldTrip that is not specifically designed for connection will be considered Spam.

Our Non-Negotiables

The following behaviors are not acceptable or tolerated on FieldTrips, and a CMHQ FieldTrip Guide will remove any participant or host for demonstrating:

  1. Language or humor that can be considered oppressive (e.g. racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, classist, or xenophobic)
  2. Pornographic material or explicit content (sexual or violent in nature)
  3. Disruptive behavior, especially during talks, presentations, events, or activities
  4. Hateful or highly offensive content, including personal insults or content that attacks or dehumanizes a person based on gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, religion, or political affiliation
  5. Spam as unsolicited material and/or irrelevant promotion
  6. Misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive content

Follow Up & Reporting

If a host or participant has hurt, offended, or harassed you in any way, please DM the CMHQ FieldTrip Guide immediately and we will work to support you behind the scenes and address the situation as needed. Your safety is our priority.

If our team notices anything that is inconsistent with the above expectations, the FieldTrip Guide will first contact the participant or host through a direct message. We will do our best to approach the situation with curiosity and generosity and come to a resolution in the moment. We have the right to remove a participant or host at any time.
